3 ways to destroy your copywriting career

Also, you’ve been brainwashed

Not putting in the work…

Having “shiny object syndrome”…

And being an idiot…

Are just a few of the many reasons most copywriters end up flushing their dreams down the toilet.

I really find it hard to understand why most “copywriters” aren’t willing to recognize and just do the hard work that is required.

This isn’t easy…

In fact, if you do believe that it is easy, let me introduce you to how you’ve been brainwashed - at least in the way that I believe.

Have you ever heard that “copywriting is the easiest business model to start in 2021?” 2022, 2023, 2024…

Same thing gets said every year so I assume you have.

Now, think about who is saying it.

Do they sell something?

I garaun-fucking-tee it.

You see, when you advertise anything, there’s something that you can take advantage of called “beliefs”.

Readers, viewers, listeners… They have certain beliefs – beliefs that can be challenged, changed, reinforced; all to different effects in order to get them closer to the action you want them to take.

This is where the brainwashing starts…

And honestly, it’s quite smart…

You’re hearing over and over again that “copywriting is easy” – ignore the truth that it’s not for just a second and believe that it is – However, you’re experiencing everything BUT ease.

It’s hard, isn’t it?

But drilled into your mind is the belief that it is “easy”.

So what conclusions do most come to?

“I must be doing something wrong”

“I’m missing something”

“Maybe I just need help to find an easy way”

Where’s the help?

Right at the feet of the arrogant little shit that said copywriting was easy…

Oh yeah, with an insane price tag.

Through this brainwashing, you think that YOU are the problem…

Not the industry, because people say over and over again it is easy.

Now, snap back to reality…

And listen to me when I say…

This shit isn’t easy.

But it is simple…

Just by putting the work in, not being distracted, and not being an idiot…

Copywriting turns into a game of luck which you have even more chance of winning as time goes on, while you consistently put the effort in of course.

It’s hard because it’s rewarding.

But getting to that reward is simple.

That’s all.

See you soon,

Presley

P.S. reply with your least favourite “goo-roo” and why - I might write an email on them

P.P.S include in your reply if you want me to cover some concepts like beliefs in future emails
