Do this or you’re doomed
Yes, this is about clients
Seriously…
Do you think you could manage a client, who is 100x more successful than you, with copywriting alone?
I see hundreds of people get into copywriting and practice relentlessly, leveraging all resources at their disposal.
Which is great, it’s exactly what needs to be done.
However…
What copyrwriters, goo-roos or not, often forget to mention is that copywriting alone won’t get you far.
Sure, there are some clients out there who will literally only need you to type on a google doc.
But in my case?
Every single client I have had, both big and small, has never been solely about the copy.
Let me just put in writing what I’ve done for clients:
Web design (to a degree)
Email marketing (shit ton of this)
Lead magnet creation
Funnel building
Audience segmenting
List cleaning
Deliverability issue fixing (my worst nightmare)
Consultancy
Copy Coaching (yes, coaching)
Software management (primarily email)
And in general, just being a very helpful guy
Do you think that your first client will be solely copy-related?
Because if you’re not stacking skills so high that when stood upon you touch the international space station…
You might be in trouble.
Not serious trouble, because if your copy is good enough you’ll be hired for it.
But the benefits of stacking skills is…
You get to charge a “premium”.
It’s always been a tactic of mine whenever I bring up pricing for email copywriting to just drop in that:
I manage everything related to email marketing.
The client never has to even touch any email software whatsoever.
Not only does this give me full control to ensure the best results possible…
But it takes a weight off my client’s (or their team’s) back.
So, I account for this in pricing.
Anyway…
Just think how much more useful you’ll be to a business owner if you can manage everything.
Start with email – Beehiiv, ConvertKit, Klaviyo… They’re all free to use.
Set up an account and piss about with stuff, while also studying how actual newsletters react to your actions.
Other stuff that people were giving me money for?
I learned from some indian dude on YouTube lmao.
See you later,
Presley
P.S. Don’t take this as a sign to stop copywriting for a while and solely focus on back end systems, it’s not that. Get semi-decent before you even think about learning this shit on top of copy.
P.P.S Something huge dropping in our free community soon, make sure you’re there for it.
