Don’t lie…
You’d click on a video with that title, wouldn’t you? Of course you would, because if the bane of your existence as a beginner copywriter hoping to “win big” is anything but client acquisition, I’d be surprised.
But since it is, let me clarify something – you’re just a sheep (you’re about to find out why).
For some reason, goo-roos have opted to brainwash mindless writers into thinking that having good outreach is how you make $10k/month as a copywriter.
I’m here to tell you it’s not.
You want to know what is?
Well, let me take you back to when I first started out as a copywriter…
I was going as anyone should; learning, practicing, honing in on the craft…
But then it hit me – I need to start outreach if I want to make some money. So, confident in my ability, I went ahead with it, testing out all the crazy scripts people “formulate” nowadays as well as putting my own spin on things.
And wouldn’t you know it?
ZERO clients.
I started thinking, “How is it that copywriters like me are getting clients?”, while I’m wondering, “Why the hell won’t Fitnessdude97 check out my free value?”
But then, as my inner scientist emerged into my overly critical mind, I came to a conclusion…
The reason my competition was signing more clients, although simple, was something that I knew 90% of copywriters wouldn’t be able to beat me on should I acquire it.
Now, It’s not some godsend of a script…
Nor is it a pointless productivity schedule… (seriously, why do people use those?)
And if you think it’s got something to do with “personal brand”?
Respectfully, your opinion will never matter.
No, instead it’s something that I knew would propel me to the top of my league within just a couple weeks.
And honestly, it’s something you can make a start on by watching Pol’s latest video.
Okay, okay…
I’ve played out the intrigue for a miraculous amount of time…
The simple reason other copywriters sign more clients than you is:
They are just better.
(A “skill issue”, if you may)
Once I took the time to throw everything I had at books, podcasts, YT, Google Docs, sales page printouts, successful ads, iconic sales pages, and… Did I already say books?
Anyway, you get the point – I went all out for like 2 months straight getting even better than I already was.
Fast forward to today…
I work with one of, if not, the biggest goo-roo in a certain niche. I co-run a 400+ member copywriting community. I get the pleasure of working with some insane business partners with clients spread across niches. And much, much more…
Like last week, if it weren’t for my undying ability nowadays, I would have lost a client to a copywriter who has an established personal brand teaching people about copywriting.
But I didn’t – The funniest part?
I sent 1 email and a small plan…
The other dude sent like 8 emails, a landing page, short form scripts, and filled every single line of that document with in-depth comments.
(If YOU are somehow reading this and know you recently got a client swiped from under your nose – my condolences)
Simple really; just get better at writing copy.
